Exessive Weight Loss Post Pregnancy

This is probably most new mum's dream but not mine! I used to weight 9 and a half stone before I was preganant and sicne birth of my child six months ago I now weight just 8 stone. I hate being this skinny I look quite lierallly like a stick insect and I miss my curvier shape!

I have been to the doctor on a few occasions and they are concerned but have no clue why I've lost so much! I lost 7 pounds in 6 weeks on the last check.

I don't seem to have any other symptoms (tired but suspect thats down to a six month old baby!), occassionally get cramppy stomach pains but not regularly so its probably more your standard indigestion, and I ahve always had a fairly sensitive stomach like that!

I have had blood test to check for diabetes, thyroid activity and anemia, and they have all come back normal apparently. They did the listening to chest and pressing aorund my stomach but couldn't feel anything abnormal. Blood pressure fine too.

My appetite is the same as ever, I do walk my daughter in pushchair every day but can't see that having a huge impact as I used to walk to and from train station previously. Only change has been having my daughter and giving up work.

My friend suggested that the amount of coffee I drink now may have caused it- does anyone know is this true? Sounds a bit random to me, but then I never drunk much coffee before pregnancy or during and after I started having Americanos (the really strong expresso coffees), about one a day... would this have an impact?!

Sorry to be a moaner but I hate not knowing whats going on with my body and I'm a slight hypochrondriac because my mother had cancer so stuff like this slightly worries me that it may be more sinister!!

Any suggestions as to why would be appreciated! Thanks!

No, I had to stop breastfeeding when my daughter was 4 weeks old as she had reflux and she seemed to be taking badly to it for some reason which is strange as normally its better to breastfeed apparently.

PS- Am very worried because I keep seeing things about leukemia and that weight loss can be a symptom. But wouldn't the intial blood tests have picked this up if it was and therefore I am over stressing myself out!? It also said as bleeding gums- which I had a lot when pregnant although is this normal when pregnant anyway?

Again sorry to be complete worrier I must sound like I am completly over reacting!

this same thing occured after the birth of my first son,it was over a longer period of time tho, but i hit a point where that extra wieght just started to come off all by itself. it really was shocking since i always was the heavier one in my family. my OB,after doing many different types of tests simply told me that my metabolism had sped up. all the big hormonal changes that take place during pregnancy along with the trauma of just giving birth can create some really strange reactions post birth. i too thought i was really sick just becasue i had never ever been that skinny in my life, but i was just fine. if you are also taking inalot of caffiene that you were not before,it also can have an effect on metabolism too. you are probably also not doing a whole lot of just sitting down these days either?

unless you start showing some level of actual symptoms and have had testing done that would explain this,it could just be that change in your metabolism(along with the caffeine intake and being a 'mom") too. i would just go with everything is okay til proven otherwise,as long as you have had the right testing done,ya know? if something else pops up or other symptoms develop, then i would get back to the doc,but as long as things appear okay in every other way,i would simply enjoy that new baby. just some thoughts.
