Exercises question.........?

Is it true that you can make your butt bigger by exercising your leg and butt muscles.
Im apple shaped which means my body naturally puts more fat in my arms boobs and stomach and barely any in my butt or legs. And kinda skinny but because of my body shape i look like an unside down christmas tree. So would building muscles in my legs make my body look more balanced out or even make me look "thick". And what exercises are best for making you butt and legs gain muscle quickest.
