Ok we have recently taken my cousin into our home so we could take care of her. She is 20 yrs old and would be classified as super morbidly obese. She is over 500 lbs. Before people start judging her because of her weight let me take a few to explain that it IS NOT because of over eating or being lazy, she was over active growing up until she hit 18, she became sick and stayed retaining fluid. No doctor could figure out what was wrong with her so they just gave her lasix and sent her on the way, well that didn't do anything but make her worse, she was admitted into the ICU because the pills drained all of the fluids she was suppose to have but once again they didn't find the cause of the swelling. Well fast forward two years and finally we were told she has lymphedema and that is causing 300 lbs of weight on its own, so please if you don't know what that is go look it up before you assume something else. She also has a thyroid problem, she takes synthoid for it daily. PCOS,anxiety,bi polar manic depression, are also some of the medical conditions she has. She doesn't over eat and tries hard to do as much movement as she can but with her legs being so bad its often difficult for her to walk or stand more than a few minutes or steps so she gets around outside the house by wheelchair. She is too young to be like this and is willing to do whatever it takes to live a normal life again. She has no health insurance so surgery is out of the question. Is there any exercises that can be done sitting down or laying in bed that will give her the head start she needs? She eats 1200 calories a day and only drinks water. We do not have access to a pool either. Please any suggestions or websites would be great. No rude comments are needed, she is a person just like you and me, and doesn't deserve to be looked down upon because of her weight.
We have seen a dr they all recommend she try for SSI and then get the gastric bypass surgery when she gets the medicaid but she doesn't want to rely on welfare. We also do not have a way to join the YMCA. Her dr says for her to just try to keep moving, which she does but like I said its limited to what she can and cant do.
