EXCLUSIVE!! there might be a new nightmare!

Today at collectormania in Glasgow, Robert Englund was talking about his time with freddy and time on tv show the V!!

Someone in the crowd asked him if there would be any more films. He said that New line cinema were in talks with john carpenter to make a movie called, u guessed it, Freddy vs Jason Vs Michael. he also revealed that Freddy vs Jason vs Ash was going to be made but it got pulled.

Also he said that newline cinema are in talks with wes craven about making a prequel to A nightmare on elm street. he said it would start with freddy working at the school as the janitor and end with him being burnt. He made a joke saying that at least he wouldnt have to where the make up all the way throught the movie. HE revealed that there is a SCRIPT for this movie already made!!

Finally He talked about 2001 maniacs. He said he starred in that as a favour to the director and he had such a good time making it they are goin to make another one!!

Thats all the news i have. I swear this whole article is 100% genuine and all of it is from Robert Englund own mouth.

Thanks for the update but the news the ideas about Freddy v Jason v Michael and the prequel have been floating about since 2004 and Robert has mentioned them before various interviews.

From what I can gather New Line are not sure where to take the Freddy franchise apart from the knowledge there will be another as they make huge money and all Robert knows are ideas that have been briefly discussed.

Myself I doubt F V J V Michael will occur as the Halloween franchise has just been re-imagined and is now going in completly different direction to a gimmicky versus movie and is also owned by a rival studio.

A prequel is possible but there are many reasons why it won't work.

Realistically the likely scenerio is a much darker reimagining of the franchise starring Robert as Freddy.New Line are probably waiting to see how well Halloween does at the box office before giving the green light.

All the Vs and prequel stuff has been going around for years. I hope they don't make anymore.

Jessica - Ash is the character played by Bruce Campbell in the Evil Dead movies.

I remember A Nightmare On Elm Street was the first 18 film I went to see at the cinema. I'd been to see another film and they showed a the trailer for it which was just the girl in it setting a booby trap of a hammer and everything at her door and saying to herself please don't go to sleep etc. No one knew what the hell it was about but the trailer must have worked as it was packed when we went.

I haven't seen any of the others. Are they any good?

Are there about 9 sequels or something?

There are about 8 now I believe.
As for the sequels only part 3 is a quite good movie, the rest are only watchable if you are about 12-15 years old or a die hard fan of the Freddy character.
Basically they were designed more to make money from merchandise then be good horror movies,so you can understand how cartoony they are.

Although Wes Craven's New Nightmare is a very intelligent horror movie (not a direct sequel to the elm street series and not really for fans of the series).

Cheers UltraViolet :)
I've seen the trilogy, completely forgot the name :o
I think it would be comical if they made a Vs film with him in :D

Oooo I remember seeing Nightmare at a frienRAB sleepover party when I was about 8 or 9, it was scaryyyy then. First horror film I can remember watching.

Like JamesSpondo said, Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors is a must see, and so is Wes Craven's New Nightmare.

Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge is worth watching for having a lead male role instead of the usual final girl like in the rest of the series.

The 6th movie, Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare is also worth a catch for the whole freddy having a child element.
