i run a restaurant business & i deal with paying people all the time but 4 some of my staff i only pay them tips by weekly so i keep a running total of what i owe them through excel so to make my life a little easier i was trying to write a formula (we will use the names "bob & joe") for if bobs name is in cell c3 then the tips for that night which are in cell b3 transfer over to workbook "november tips" under bobs column for that day but if Joe's name is there then the tips from cell b3 will go to the same workbook but instead of going to bobs column they go to Joe's column in the correct cell.....is that possible & if so can you please walk me through it? Also why am i having such an issue with the formulas i already do have set up for other things to transfer data from workbook to workbook (i.e. i have a formula written in workbook "a" to bring numbers over from workbook "b" & "c" & sometimes it works & sometimes when i hit update it doesn't update when i open it????? does any one know how to help with this problem as well? thanks for any advice you have
