Ex military, when applying for a civ job how often do they ask for you DD-214?

Do they even ask for your DD-214 and if so do they look at it or ask you why you were discharged?
 
Most of the time they don't. They will ask if you got an honorable discharge. If you lie, you are in big ca-ca. Unless you take a gov't job, then they will want it.
