Evolution of fairies throughout the years as portrayed by the media?

I'm doing a project on fairies and how the media has portrayed them differently throughtout the years. Do you have suggestions for any big movies, tv shows, comics, video games, and books? They don't need to be like the typical fairy, they can be like the fairy god mother.

Oh and also, do you know if there are any fairy characters in the movie Princess Bride?
