Everyone should study cosmology, don't you think?

The study of the universe, physics, astronomy, quantum physics really puts things into perspective don't you think? It some how manages to confirm both our insignificance and uniqueness at the same time. I feel sure that if people studies these things from a young age as a matter of course in schools that it would only be to the good of mankind. What do you think?

That's a great idea. It would certainly improve the science literacy of the general population--and maybe people would have a little more respect for science, rather than dismissing various parts of it they disagree with for no more reason that they don't sound intuitive or that they disagree with their preconceived religious notions.

It might also reduce people's habit of blindly falling for any and all doomsday claims, like that 2012 stuff, if they had some actual idea of what does go on in the cosmos.

I agree. I have always been really curious about cosmology. Used to think about it all the time when I was a little girl, and watched all of the available documentaries. Then I became an archaeologist. And even as an archaeologist I managed to keep on exploring my interest in cosmology, researching on ancient civilizations cosmogonist systems, the explanations the old and wise would have for what happens on earth by looking an interpreting what goes on in the sky. 5000 years ago, the very first ancient Egyptians, for instance, knew a lot more than any European person knew in Europe during the middle ages.

But you're right, if people were all given the chance to follow the latest researches at school, if it were to be public domain maybe we would all be a bit more open minded, and we would be confronted with less religious fundamentalists. I'm sure the lords of war wouldn't be able to use religion as an escape goat for their own personal interests as much as they do!

There is nothing like an educated world, if the mission is to fight things such as ignorance and injustice!!!

Abso-bloomin-lutey!
It's fascinating and awe inspiring.
Since starting my studies in physics and astronomy I've realised so many people still live in their own wee 'bubble', ignorant to anything beyond the realm of the every-day.
To them we live in the big, wide world, when really we live on a tiny little rock in an unfathomable vastness of...everything!
We are but a single pixel in an infinite universe, take comfort in the fact there is a much bigger picture :)
