Everyone in my apartment is sleepy

A few nights ago I woke up to my pet ferret vomiting. I took him to the vet, but the results were inconclusive so far, so he's on antibiotics. I have no idea if it's related, but since then everyone in the apartment seems very sleepy. Everyone being a turtle, two ferrets and me. Ferrets are sleepy animals, but mine have slept for 2 days with none of their usual crazy playing in between. I feel otherwise normal, but I've been more tired than normal, and especially having a hard time waking up in the morning. Even the turtle has been laying out sleeping all day the past few days.

I feel fine, and I have normal energy at work and out of the apartment. I've been sleeping a minimum of 8 hours a night. The only strange symptom is that I am very tired when I'm home and so are all the animals. I have a carbon monoxide detector plugged in and it hasn't gone off, so I don't think its that. Maybe it's just the change of season, but I feel like something is going on here. Any ideas?

I would have to ask the same question. Even if the batteries are good, those detectors themselves have a limited lifespan, too... So if your unit is over 5-6 years old, it may be defective.

Are there any kinRAB of gas appliances in your home? Water heater, furnace, fireplace, range (which operates with a pilot light)? You can have the gas company or fire department check for elevated CO fumes. I highly recommend it. If you're hesitant to do that, at least buy a new CO dectector with new batteries and double check it yourself. This is truly a life-or-death matter.

Thanks for the replies. I bought a new, top of the line CO detector, so I am pretty sure that isn't my problem. I do have gas appliances. The oxygen question is an interesting one. It's a nice day so maybe I'll try opening the windows for awhile when I get home from work.

I have central air, but the A/C barely comes on now that it's cooling down, so it does feel a bit warmer and less drafty then it did a few weeks ago. This could easily explain the turtle spending more time out of the water sunbathing. With the A/C coming on less though, my apartment is much less ventilated. I live on the ground floor in the city, so my windows are pretty much always locked and closed.

The ferrets were actually awake this morning and somewhat playful, so I'm feeling a little less concerned. They weren't quite their normal crazy selves, but it was much better than just moving their limp, sleepy bodies from the bed to the cage. Maybe the three of us just came down with some minor infection/sickness? I know colRAB and flues are contagious between ferrets and people, or maybe I just needed more than 8 hours of sleep to catch up from my nights awake with a sick ferret and my morning exhaustion was not really related. My boyfriend did comment that he felt sleepy when he came over last night, but it's hard to know if that means anything, since it was late and he could have just been tired.

Make sure there is nothing wrong with the outlet the detector is plugged into. Sometimes outlets can be turned on and off by a wall switch or be defective.

Consider the possibility of a natural gas leak (which a CO detector wouldn't pick up, unless it was a CO/natural gas corabo detector) or mold growth in the walls.

I would have the fire department test your carbon monoxide machine in case it is defective that is serious. A friend of mine was poisoned that way. You could also have some kind of bug. You could go to a professional for help. I would open windows for fresh air daily.
