When I think of country home decor, I think of farmhouses with big, sturdy furniture. Many times the furniture is more primitive and rugged looking, with weathered woods such as pine or oak. I think of braided rugs, quilts, twig wreaths, folk art, handwoven baskets, pottery, and homespun fabrics such as cotton, heavy linen, wool, etc. Big, comfy leather couches might be ideal for the county home, and big club chairs covered in tweedy plaid fabrics or heavy denim, with a matching ottoman.
I think of wide-planked flooring, fireplaces, big farm tables in the kitchen, and etc. County home decor is rustic and serviceable.

This style is very homey and comfortable and casual. It does not contain refined or sophisticated elements, yet it evokes a feeling of calm and comfort. I think of ranches and farmhouses as being decorated with this style of decor,

Cottage decor is a little more feminine, yet some of the same elements are used. Cottage decor might use florals, painted furniture that is more delicate in color and scale, chintz fabrics, and so forth.

I would not choose this style of furnishings for my own home, but I have enjoyed it in the homes of others, and I've stayed in lodges that have this type of decor.
