I've been dating my boyfriend for a year and 8 months. We've had our rocky times, ups and downs...like everyone does. But I love him and I know he loves me. We've been working really hard on making our relationship work. We are always there for each other...he is my biggest support.
He is an attorney and works....UNGODLY hours. He works 60-70 hours a week, 7 days a week.
His job seems to effect our relationship SOO much. Like if things are going well at work, things are going well with us...but if things are going bad at work (behind on a deadline, swamped, more stressed than normal) than things seem to be bad with us.
Has anyone else ever experienced this? He is always stressed out, working til 10, 11, even midnight...he is always tired, never gets enough sleep...and his work never seems to let up, he's always got a BUNCH of stuff on his desk.
Work seems to be his #1 priority. And...I told him I understand that...its so important to him that he succeed in this job.
This weekend he told me he needed some space because he was becoming overwhelmed. He said he was so unhappy yesterday at work that he almost up and quit.
Has anyone ever dated a lawyer? Married one? Does this ever change? What can I do to be more supportive...to make him see that I understand and I'll do what I can to help?
BTW, he's 33 and I'm 27.
I should probably clarify that we aren't married...I posted here cause its a LTR, and the people in the dating section seem to be like 15 years old. I needed grown up advice...as horribly mean as that sounds.
