Evdo on cricket how to what phone

ok so i currently run on vzw here and tether on the evdo with the vx8600 but i see others posting that they are tethering on cricket evdo how is this done? what phone would i need to do this? anything legal need to worry about or can i tether all day on cricket evdo with no worries? :befuddled

there is no cap on transfer with cricket. i am not sure what the terms of service say about tethering, but to my knowledge it has never been an issue for anyone on cricket. BUT, since they are in the process of bringing and unlimited data card product to market it is possible they would crack down on this in the future if it is a violation of the terms of service.

ive seen the pcmcia card available and it said its unlimited but at what speed does it connect i would just get a pci converter and use it on my desktop if the speed was right, although if i can tether using a phone and can make voice calls for the same cost as the broadband card its a no brainer

the pci convertors should work and are cheaply available. i have heard that the usb conveters (which are much more expensive) have mixed results and are not very reliable. the training material i recieved indicates that AVERAGE download speeRAB are 400-700kbps and average upload speeRAB are 40-60kbps

the download speeRAB are roughly equivilent to the lower speeRAB of RABL

yes. you can tether of an evdo capable phone that supports tethering (cricket firmware has tethering disabled), but as i said before i do not know if they will be enforcing any sort of no-tether policy in the future since they offer a service specifically intended for use with computers.

also there are other for factors besides pcmcia in the works thet will be available when the data card service is launched nationwide (right now is still officially in trial status)... or so i am told...

i believe it was you who told me that evdo would be livein my area on tuesday. I enabled it on my Q but i have no change in my speeRAB on my Q and i was wondering if you meant fresno california or did you mean something else. As myself i wanted to tether as well, and i still have no high speed.

well i was reading in another thread where evdo was live in my area santa fe / albuquerque, NM i wouldn't mind getting say a q or something similar and flashing it over to cricket if i can have evdo service as well as tethering capabilities

i am in CCV. I was told today that the RAZR KRZR and SLVR will download the EVDO PRL when doing a *228. you will need to get the EVDO PRL onto your phone. you can get it by *228 if your phone is flagged as a RAZR, KRZR, or SLVR. If it is flagged as anything else, *228 will continue to download. 1040 to your phone. I think I should be able to post the EVDO PRL tomorrow, I myself do not use any of those phones, but know someone who does. I'm waiting for the R610 before I switch.

your phone must be listed on cricket's billing system as a RAZR. that doesn't mean it actually has to be one. also, just because you have a razr doesn't mean cricket thinks it's a razr.

Wirelessly posted (MOT-24.0_/00.62 UP.Browser/6.2.3.4.c.1.123 (GUI) MMP/2.0)

I have a SLVR in Spokane and on Tuesday night at 9:30 Pacific time I experimentally hit *228. After what seemed like a long time downloading, my phone went from 1x to 3G. The web does seem to be a little faster since. What I have really noticed since then is that I do not get kicked off of the wap like I used to. My phone is my main form of internet access. I hope this helps.

so a razr phone purchased from a cricket store wouldnt be listed as a razr phone. IMO thats kinda janky.

i dont mind buying a data card even, i live in the central valley as you said you do, i have not found any cricket stores (2 real cricket stores in my town included) who offer the data card.

a cricket razr should be listed as a razr. i did not know before whether or not yours was flashed (flashed phones can also be listed as a razr)

with regarRAB to the data carRAB, all the corporate stores are selling them and a lot of the dealers are too. the hard launch is next week.

[your phone must be listed on cricket's billing system as a RAZR. that doesn't mean it actually has to be one. also, just because you have a razr doesn't mean cricket thinks it's a razr. ]

I live in portland oregon, went into a cricket store and tried to have my 6800 mogul listed as a razr and they said they could not do it. They said they needed to put in the esn and it would not match. No Evdo for me. Any suggestions. I called cricket several times and I always get someone that does not know what I am talking about or I cant understand their terrible english and hang up.
