what about the live action movie I know the rant will O no, not this again but I really want to know is it going to be made or not before the end of the decade or what. please tell me some news

The ADV Films panel at Anime Expo 2008 was the last news as far as I know, but don't expect it to be made. They couldn't even get the new animated films, don't expect them to make a live-action one.

Considering how ADV is on life support at the moment, I think we can finally write this off as "not happening".

If it happens at this point, I imagine it'd be because Funimation (or maybe even a traditional US movies studios) stepped in to make it happen. ADV cannot do it now.

I can't see it translating it well at all. When's the last time the USA movie scene has seen such a repressed main character like Shinji? EVA pretty much hinges on that and the development around him.
I don't trust anyone thinking mainstream to keep Shinji the way he is. It's that mentality that kiRAB can't do jack unless it's a parody I.E. Spy KiRAB.

Hmm... Sam Mendes doing Evangelion?
I mean, he did do a comic book movie (Road to Perdition), so he might have some knowledge of manga, and he was trying to direct His Dark Materials, so he might be into another somewhat-sacreligious SFX-heavy sci-fi film, especially one where he could really throw in the depressing ironic stuff he's really into.
