Evanescence - The Open Door

i kinda liked "call me when your sober" reminda me abit of how i feel towarRAB my dad and his drug/alcohol addiction( he drinks alot and smokes pot way to much and has a bad habit of driving while under the influance)
 
I think that if you don't like Evanescence you should stop wasting your time on reading what people have to say and then post how much you hate the band. That's very childish.


Anyway, I like this CD a lot. I love "Good Enough." It's such a happy song.
I like "Lithium" because it's so wonderful. Happiness in a negative way. For a while it was my favorite song off of the album.
I love "The Only One." It's now my favorite song. Her voice range at the end it just amazing. I mean the backing "Ooo Ooo" at the end, not the main vocals.
"Snow White Queen" really has the stalker-ish feel that was intended. Creepy.
"Lacrimosa" is just amazing. Especialy the big epic-ness of the ending guitars and the ending "Amen" by the choir.
"Sweet Sacrifice" helped me to overcome some of my petty fears. Like the kind of fear you get when you feel like someone is watching you or that type of fear that you get when you go to bed at night after watching a really scary horror flick. The "Fear is only in our minRAB Taking over all the time" part is what helps me.
Over all, the entire album is so amazing. A lot heavier, but "Fallen" will still have that special place in my heart where I will like it so much more than "The Open Door."
 
Even since they released Anywhere But Home, I have been anxiously waiting for their new album. As soon as it arrived to the stores, I rushed to buy a copy. I as so excited while I was putting the CD in my player, but as the first song started playing, my excitement suddenly beggined to fade. By the end of the CD I was so depressed that I even couldn't remember my name! I couldn't believe I have wasted my money on this! I hated it! And then I said to myself: "YOU BOUGHT THIS CD AND NOW YOU ARE GOING TO LIKE IT!!!" So I kept listening to it and after the fifth time it happened: I liked it!
Now, the fact that I now like The Open Door doesn't change the fact that Evanescence couldn't fullfill my expectations. The album is good but not nearly good as Fallen. Every song on Fallen is great, and I can't seem to make myself like Good Enough and this is a big minus for The Open Door. After several atempts to like it I realsed that it is a song for the Mariah Carey fans and since I am not one of them I will never like it. The album would be much better if they replaced Good Enough with The Last Song I'm Wasting On You. Unlike Good enough, this IS a good song. Another big minus are the lyrics. Earlier I could find myself in Amy Lee's lyrics and now they are nothing but a bunch of meaningless worRAB written on a paper. There are only two songs with good lyrics on the album ant they are Lithium and Like You. I have noticed that she ues the word "bleeding" a lot in her songs. I mean, she has been bleeding for so long that her fans, including me should really start worrying for her health!:laughing: :laughing:
A pleasent surprise was the booklet. Although it doesn't contain many pictures it is very nicely done and this kind of booklet calls for people to buy the cd.
Now, here is why you should buy this CD:
Although it is not a CD for first listening, after you hear it a couple of times you'll like it a lot.
It has many good songs. In fact all songs, except Good Enough are good!:laughing:
Holding it in your hanRAB makes you feel like you're holding a unique artwork.
Becouse YOU SHOULD LISTEN TO ECANESCENCE!!!

...its a music thread people share opinions here so if someone doesnt say s omething nice about a band you like then get over it its their opinion and they can share it if they want to...so like ive said and will say again evanescence blows
 
Correction. It's a music thread about Evanescence's latest album. Not music in general. If you look at the title is says "Evanescence - The Open Door" Not "Music"

I really don't care if you waste your time posting about a band that you don't like, I just think it's childish and if your taking the time out to read what someone says about a band you don't like you must like them somewhat.


Okay. I'm not going to argue anymore.

Hey. This was my fav album from 2006. The best songs on it, for me, were;

Your Star, Snow White Queen, Lithium and Lose Control.

I love some of the lyrics on this album, especially in Your Star and Lose Control. And Amy
 
Thats an original, though same name. Evanescence DID do a cover of Heart-shaped box that I really liked though.

Also, I would like to note that my mom knows a guy who gave me the CD two weeks in advanced because he knew the producer or something.
 
i loved this album, but i'm expecting the next one to do something a bit different because a lot of the tracks seemed to be very similar to those on "fallen", but it was nice to see Amy push her voice on a few tracks. She has such an instrument it would be a shame for her to become stale due to repetitive writing. love them, though.
 
I was a little surprised to hear that Good Enough is the next single to come off this album.
I think its a great song (thought it was a tad cheesy at first though) but dont really see it as single material. Maybe I heard wrong......I would probably have picked "All That Im Living For" or "The Only One".

It will be interesting to see what the video for Good Enough will be like though....

Music can really grow on you. Usually it's because you have tear down old biases that were never really relevant in the first place, something 99% of us are guilty of. I've had many an album I didn't like at first turn out to be part of my favorites.

Evanescence is just fine.
 
ive done the same with albums because i know some cRAB can take time to grow on you im just saying hey i think evanescence blows end of story i dont like them at all...
