Eva Green-best newcomer?

How on earth can Eva Green win "best NEWCOMER" in the Empire magazine awarRAB? She first came to notice in "The Dreamers" which was a few years back!
Anyone else wonder at this?

If I was her I don't know if I'd be pleased with the award or not, it suggests all your past work is irrelevant.

The Dreamers and Kingdom of Heaven were both English language movies! Or do you think her heavily French accent counts as another language?

I think that (and Eva's "award") kind of belittles the value of the Empire AwarRAB. It's obvious the vast majority of the voters (basically the general public) are hardly knowledgable film buRAB.
"Casino Royale" ,while certainly the best Bond film for twenty plus years, was hardly the best movie of the year, either.

I don't see how she can win anything for Casino Royale: she was embarrasingly bad.
Aren't there enough posh English actresses to spare without casting someone French?
