“Race you to the top!” I said in an enthusiastic tone.
“Prepare to lose,” he replied confidently. Getting into position, we gave each other both a determined look before sprinting up the steps. We zoomed up the long staircase as fast as we could. Though it probably wasn’t the safest thing, we tried to block each other, causing us to bring out our competitive nature. Both of us were panting when we finally reached the top.“Oh, what was that?” I jeered, “You lost to a girl!”
Whatever, I let you win,” he said trying to take a breath. He was obviously upset at his loss. Once we were done with our little race, we walked down the hall and past three big white doors, there it was: Spencer’s bedroom As you walked into the dimly lit room, you saw a five gallon fish tank that housed a vibrant red betta, creating a cool effect against the royal blue walls. White, untucked sheets were carelessly shoved at the foot of the full sized bed, and across the bed was a muted thirty-two inch television that always seemed to be on ESPN. School papers, books, and board games were messily strewn here and there. Despite the disarray, the room still gave off a relaxing vibe. I continued into his bedroom as I always did.
(more personal dialogue)
Usually we would watch a movie, talk, and play board games, filling the silent room with laughter. We were just friends with innocent crushes on each other. Spencer could always get me to loosen up and really be myself. He was funny and sweet, so people couldn’t help but love him. Many memories took place in that room, from playing cards to my first kiss. He was and still is my crush. When I think of him, I think of that room, so of course I feel a connection to it. His bedroom, and the memories we had there will always have a special place in my heart.

I know I need to make it more personal with dialogue. Im going to make up the rest of the dialogue in the middle of the story when were in the room.
Any ideas what the dialogue would be like?
