As the weeks progressed, Jerry and Lily became content with where they were in life, and as this feeling settled a new one occurred. They felt the need for something more and new. They had just moved into their new pad out in District 4, one mile out of town. Actually it was more up than out; they lived a mile out vertically. Since 30 years ago living had changed with new technologies, housing complexes now were miles long in both directions. Earth was so developed, that everywhere was like a city. With over population people began to run out of room to live. It was a perfect house for them, and they got it at a good price considering it was on the 32nd Level. They had lived in District 3 housing most of their lives, somewhere in between Levels 23 and 25 and deserved the higher living now that they had come to a point in their lives where money was abundant and were able to finally get what they wanted after so much hard work. Jerry had met Lilly when he had an idea of developing a company that sought out genetic perfection. He found her working at The University’s genetics department, and started talking to her about some of his ideas. They thought so much alike, that they became business partners and co-owners. They grew closer in friendship until they committed as life partners. With large sums of investor’s money over the next 10 years of work they began researching DNA to be able to alter people in a variety of ways. Genetic alterations were one of the most profitable careers in science yet, with its $500,000+ price range for a client to have their methods used. They were customizing more than people had ever imagined 30 years ago. Every day people were born smarter with knowledge already in their heads. What they began doing to the brain is similar to what could be done to a computer. The computer isn’t anything but the basic tools to become smarter and has its primary way of being able to absorb knowledge, until it is told information and programmed with a script and it can become smart in the area it has been taught about, using a pattern of thinking to run. In this same way, the scientists would feed the clients’ brains knowledge while still in the mother’s womb; it was called Nero Programming. Their company, Tre-fectima, was the only one who had discovered this much in this specific field of science and they were the only ones so far to know the secrets about it. . The 32nd Level was high up enough to get a view of the sky, and this was a luxury. Other lower levels were surrounded on all sides so that people couldn’t see anything but other buildings when they gazed up out of their windows.
