I have had 2 lurabar epidurals & 1 cervical facet injection since October, 2009. I've been noticing changes in my vision over the last 6-8 weeks, so I went to the eye doctor today.

He told me I have a cataract in my right eye and the vision has diminished since my last appt. in 6/09. My right eye is now 20/70 - previously 20/25. He asked if I had been taking steroiRAB & I told him about the ESI's. He said a side effect of steroiRAB is cataracts. I was very surprised to hear that, as I do not recall being told that by my doctor. I will now think twice before having anything to do with steroiRAB.

Has anyone else had this or heard of this? Thanks. Jill

No I have not but I can say my vision has went down hill & Im going to have to make an appointment. I did hear steroiRAB can cause problems with vision but I was not sure if this included all types. I was on steroiRAB for 8mnths or so before my spinal problems were found & I felt my vision start to change then. Lyrica messed with my vision also. I would think we would be informed of this you know when we go for ESIs. Ive had several over the last couple yrs & Im not thrilled to hear this can occur. Cant win at times can you?
Cataracts or pain? Gee what a mess!
Good luck, Im curious to see if anyone else has had this problem. Sammy

Well, as a matter of fact, I've noticed my vision going downhill as well. Since my health insurance doesn't cover vision, I'm just coping with it. Maybe I'll try to get to the drugmart and get the next strength up on the over the counter type glasses. I've had 5 injection's since last summer:(....janiee. P.S. I do know that these injections can raise your blood glucose levels to a certain degree, so you have to be careful if you are a diabetic. Be sure to inform your doc if you are a diabetic before you have one of these cortisone injections.

Yep! Me too - Nice new cataract on my right eye since my steroid use and shots. I already had one removed in my left about 4 years ago, and now ones getting worse on my right. I'm also fairly young (21) so I'm wondering if there's some connection. When it rains it pours!
