Eris grey envelope with arrow wont go away HELP!!

Ok so this notification just started on my Eris! when I get a message(only text not emails) this grey envelope with a arrow on it comes up in my notifications even after I?ve read and replied to the message its still there until I click it and i take me to the message that ive already replied to. I?ve turned of all settings has far as auto retrieve and text notification but it still comes up! I deleted a bunch of apps thinking maybe one of them was causing this. I called htc they had no answers but to do a hard reset and lose everything not something I want to do! So if ya know something that would help please let me know thanks!
 
Pull your screen down from the top and you should get a dialogue box something like clear, tap it and them notification should go away.
 
It must be an app.

Are you using, or have you installed, any replacement messaging apps like Handcent?

Thats what i do but why all the sudden is it doing this annoying envelop??? its just dumb that it still shows up after message as been read...
 
If you use Handcent, make sure you've turned off the notifications in the standard Messaging app. Check they're still off by going into the settings while in the Messaging app. If you have notifications turn on with both apps you will get two notifications.
 
i am using handsent but have been for a while then all the sudden this crap but yea i will def try that sounds like that might do the trick. Thanks extorian!
 
Well it's just a guess. I don't know why it would suddenly switch itself back on, unless you had notifications off in Handcent and on on in the default app. A recent update to Handcent might have reset that.

It could be any app I guess, but aSpotCat can figure that out.
 
EXTORIAN YOU ROCK MAN!! Aspotcat showed me that some weird app was running with my texts deleted it and no more stupid envelope!! thank you!
