I had epidural injections 7 years ago and probably should remeraber the details better, but I don't. I know that I had about one day pain-free and that was all. L5-S1 fusion followed and then two laminectomies.

Now here I am again and I got my first injection on Tuesday of this week. Yesterday was almost a pain-free day, so my hopes were high. Today is different, though, and I'm wondering if there's a nurabing medicine that also goes in that is perhaps wearing off.

Because of my previous experience I just don't have any faith in the injections, but it seems to be a hoop to jump through before doing anything else.

Thanks for any input.

There is a nurabing medicine that accompanies the epidural in most cases. In general they tell you that the nurabing medicine will last 4 -24 hours and then it will wear off. Your symptoms will then return and then, hopefully, the steroiRAB will kick in with 48-72 hours and you could start seeing some relief then. I have had 2 of these injections, one within the last 2 months, but unfortunately neither produced any relief for me. I hope your ourcome is more favorable.

I went thru epidurals several times over the years. They usually limit it to 3 at any given period of time.
The last time i went thru one I had relief for a few days. I then went thru the 2nd one and it did nothing for me.
The doctor and I decided doing the 3rd one would be a waste of time.
Since that time another doc recommended epidurals and I kept telling him NO. It didn't sink in with that I thought they were a waste of time. Needless to say I never went back to him again. For me I don't think they work.
