My 40 year old nephew has been in the hospital off and on over the last few weeks.
His symptoms started with stomach pain and diarrhea for two or three weeks. He was hospitalized for a week, but nothing could be found .
He was released, but sent back to the hospital when his heart started racing. It's been at 100 resting pulse, shooting up to 160 when walking, even a short distance. He's on bedrest in the hospital now.
They suspect Eosinophilic Gastritis, but they still cannot find an allergin or parasite. He suspects that his employment might have brought this on...carpet cleaning....but so far, no definite ties.
He's been on three medications for a year or so, nothing has changed there.After the heart started racing, the doctor put him on a new one that doesn't seem to be working.
He's getting scared and no one seems to have a clue what to do.
What else do we need to know? What can you tell me about this disease?
