Environment Debate...?

Environmental Issues...?
I have a project which requires me to choose a topic that is one which affects our environment... and make sure it is one that will spark a lot of interest in a debate in class. For example, the propane explosion in toronto, factories close to cities, genetically modified foods. We have to divide up the pros and cons of our topic and debate about them in class. The problem is finding a good topic. Are there any good debatable subjects that I could use, moreover in the Toronto and surrounding area?

For example, for the Toronto explosion,
-Why were they so close to residential areas?
-But there was no other place to put them...
ETC, etc, ETC...

PLEASE HELP!!!
 
i had to write a persuasive essay similar to this and i chose how harmful water bottles are to the environment. They are so harmful they actually banned then in certain states in America. There are many other interesting facts on it too. I found the topic interesting i don't know if you will but its just an idea.
