enviromentally tainted land?

i'm actually hoping to be able to hold them responsible for the clean-up. i need more options.
 
At least in the USA, any owner of the land can be held responsible for the clean-up costs. Often, the polluter is no longer available to hit up for the money, so responsibility passes down to whoever bought the land. You have to do "due diligence" before buying property.You might start by contacting your state's Department of Environmental Protection or its equivalent.
 
Al Gores farm is such a property. His father got it for a song from a company that he was on the board of directors....
