Enlisting in active duty ARMY after ELS from marines 6 years?

My husband left Marine boot camp with ELS 6 years ago. It was prior to me and there was a lot going on for him. Anyways when he was sent home he did not receive an actual "discharge". He was told he could re-enlist in 2 years and it would be like nothing ever happened. We have been doing a ton of research on the Army and where we are in life now and the career he has seems like a great thing for us. He has spoken to a recruiter (actually a couple different ones) several times but we have never brought this up. Obviously we will not lie to them now that we got to thinking of this but would feel better if any body has any info on this. We will be contacting the recruiter on Monday however that will make for a long weekend! Will he be allowed to enlist in active dute? Also after talking to recruiters and his skills and licensing he has he would be at an e4 after boot camp.... would that ELS affect that? What about sign on bonus would that be impacted as well? Like I said we will be talking to the recruiter but any info will be greatly appreciated until then. Thanks :)

And realize 6 years changes a person a lot!!

I realize that 6 years is a big change.

But if he couldn't cut 180 days in the USMC, for initial training only, why do you think he can make it in the Army now.

Straight up -- basic isn't that hard. Anywhere. Just do what you are told and keep your mouth shut and you graduate after a while.

Good luck, and I how that 6 years taught him some important things. Give him my thanks for his willingness to serve.
