And so it was I entered the broken world
To trace the visionary company of love, its voice
An instant in the wind (I know not whither hurled)
But not for long to hold each desperate choice.
– “The Broken Tower” by Hart Crane

1.If you entered this broken world to trace the visionary company of love, what sort of effect would ‘love’ have on you?

2.Why is ‘love’s’ voice ‘an instant in the wind’?

3.What might be the ‘desperate choice’ that love’s voice hurls to us?

i have some ideas of my own but not sure if there are any different interpretations. easy 10points!!
yeah but i'd like to know how other people interpret it. my ideas need a bit of expansion but i don't completely understand it either.

I hate interpreting poetry, especially when it is just an excerpt, but here we go.

1. And abrupt sense of overwhelming depression. The dude did commit suicide after writing this poem, so it can't be about happy things.

2. Because it is an impulse.

3. With whom we are to share our love with and whether we are to keep our love with that single individual.

1. Love would make me feel impatient and desperate.
2. It is an instant in the wind, becuase you must grasp love before it is gone and hold on to it . Love come quickly and sometimes subtly.
3. The desperate choice is whether to stay with you feelings of love or not- hence marraige, relationships, commitments- or just to live and be confident and have high self-esteem such as in loving yourself, or conceitfulness.

- These are pretty much all opinion questions and I don't see any answer that you come up with yourself as being "wrong".

Everyone has their own interpretations to poetry. You will be able to write best about your own. Go with your gut. As long as you actually try, you will get it right.

1) Love would give me desire and will power to aim for something better, to fix what is wrong.

2) because the aim for love is playing on the narrators mind, it is everywhere.

3)Whether or not to accept love, to trust and appreciate beyond question.

That is quite a difficult text. Hope i helped! :)
