English coursework- Frankenstein, the change of the century?

Hi. For my engish coursework I have to analyse the novel Frankenstein. I have to also write about the time when the book is set & mention peoples anxieties at the turn of the 18th century. I also have to write about when it became the millenium and the millenium bug. Does anyone know what happened? I am not sure as I was too young to remember!

I really need the 18th century one though, can anyone tell me what happened? Thank you!!
