Two times world player of the year? Ronaldinho is the most marked player on any pitch. As soon as he gets the ball he is mauled by about 3 defenders.
HE didn't perform at all well in the France game. But in the group stage games (never saw the Ghana one) he made most of the goals and was pretty amazing. Not as amazing as normal (2002 game against england ) or as good as he plays for Bracelona.
But when you ask which I'd rather have how can I chose when in a team I need both types of player. A striker and an attacking mid-fielder. I need a striker that scores goals (Rooney didn't in this world cup) and I need an attacking midfielder that makes goals (Ronaldinho did). Also like you said Rooney gets himself sent of. I wouldn't want that quality in a player. It is almost impossible to win a game against a quality side with only 10 men.
