My Engine Diagnostics Light came on and after checking the reason why, I got an 18.2 error which is a Fan Relay Error. Has anyone had this problem? I'm guessing the relay is no good or may not be connected properly but wanted to check before going to the dealer to see if this is a common problem. Thanks

You might want to check your battery terminals. My engine light was coming on for various reasons then I discovered my battery terminal screws were loose. I haven't had any problems since I tightened those up. (my bike starts a lot better too. hehe)

Had to revive this thread, only thing that popped up on the forum search. Any updates on this? I just got this code over the weekend, I'm still in break-in (

wwahl,
Thanks, I have the list, I just need to know what to look for when I pull off the fairings, obviously I'll start with fuses.

I receieved this error and took it to my Dealer, who stated "that the relay kept blowing bc the wire that attach to the fan are really thin" Make sure the wire are not touching anything not even another wire. U will need a new relay and insulation for the wires. It's such a bitc! that you will miss the problem, if you didn't know about it.

try that and report back.

My buddy and I had our relay switches go on our zx6r/rr's. We didn't miss this problem because the bike overheats and the fan does not turn on unless jumped.

Just an update on this for others in the future. My left fan would not turn, popped the fuse produced the FAN 18.2 code. DNA is shipping out 2 new fans, although nothing was stated on how common this issue is, but common enough to happen to 2 1098's in my area, actually within an hour of each other?!?!?

Quick fix: turn both fans with your finger to make sure they spin, replace the fuse. BTW $354 a fan.
