There are 2 wide band options, one is fixed to the bike, the other is external, they are used for the auto tuning mode. Its a bit like the Tuning Link option Dunojet has.
But yeah, you usually do see the sniffer hanging out the pipe. I've been told you get more accurate readings closer to the ports.
