My company was recently served a Federal civil rights complaint, pursuant to Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 - the plaintiff says that we authored a contract ending on her pregnancy due date. I have the original contract, that was in fact authored before she was pregnant and the date was a coincidence.
My question relates to Title VII. My company had (has) less than 15 employees, so does the federal court have jurisdiction? Not sure how to proceed since it is my understanding that Title VII only applies to employers of 15 or more employees.
Once I answer the complaint, if it comes back no probable cause, can I assume this headache is over?
