im 18, in college, and i currently work at walgreens. ive been here since high school, 2 1/2 years. I am recently just getting so sick of them.
recenlty they asked this.
they ask me to take out the feminine hygeine container in the bathroom.i know that it needs to be taken out, and someone has to do it. but heres the thing. we have stainless steel feminine hygeine boxes. these have no bag, and no key to open it to take it out. they expect you to wear gloves, to stick your hand in it, and take everything thats in there out. they threatened to get me into serious trouble if i didnt do it. first of all, i am exposing myself to sooo many diseases. and its discusting how they have no bag or key for it! its rediculous that they expect us to expose ourselves to that stuff.
so i made a final decision, im looking for another job. its other stuff too. i am not going to be doing that stuff. touching other peoples used tampons was not in my job description. i wouldnt care much if they had the container a different way. but i am not sticking my hand in it. even with gloves. the gloves are only up to your wrist, which means part of your arm goes in there too, without any protection.
are they even allowed to make an employee do this? they dont even dispose it properly, they have no bag in the container like theyre suppose to.
no doubt about it i am looking for another job, just wanted to know what other people thought about this.
