Emo

id assume it's just : emo: but with no space?

:emo:

Ya it is.

Also i reckon the term emo is like suggesting 'over emotional' or maybe they just called themselves that to try and sound cool. You know what they're like...

I blame the whole thing on Emo Philips.

"Some mornings, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps."

Yeah, the word emo as a negative word is running rampant here in my town. I heard one student say, "Thats the problem with the world today: Emo's and weirdo's." I wanted to turn around and say,"No, thats what the problem of the world today is." But I was too hungry to care.

My defination of "Emo"

NOT kids who cut themselves or bitch about how their life sucks and blah blah blah.

Kids who are depressed and have no reason to be.
Example: Rich, spoiled, "popular", has both parents, has good friends...ect.

Being diagnosed is a seperate thing though. And having reason to be depressed is a different thing as well.

Thats the best I got for now.

Depression doesn't need to follow a reason. Depression is a chemical imbalance of dopamine in your brain, and therefor could happen to anyone. You could be poor as shit and have adopted foster parents, and have half of your face paralyzed, and be depressed, or you could live in Orange County with parents whos networth are worth more than General Electric, and be as pretty as sunshine, but still be depressed.

My definition of emo is derived from: Emotive Hardcore, which is a music genre.

http://www.myspace.com/beargarden , would be an example of emotive hardcore... But I guess the definition is just in the eyes of the beholder.

Binary, you're right. Different people handle depression differently. Some people get depressed, some people don't. It can be a natural imbalance, or it can be set off by some outside cause, or both.

Some people can have the shittiest lives possible and never become depressed.

Yeah I know that. I've been diagnosed by psychiatrist number 2 with mild depression. But psychiatrist number 3 just says its the bi-polar.

And your right about the emotive hardcore thing. Thats what it is actually but now days everyone just uses emo as kids who cut themselves and listen to emo music...

Here's my friend's definition of emo:

Emo is just a trend. Its a poppier version of goth, being goth without looking like a freak.

Musically it's the same shit they did in the 80's with synth-pop and new-romantic, just now its less synths and more guitar.

But then people took emo as an attitude or way of life, like how goth was supposed to be a genre of music, then you had goth kids and they just lived that way. All holier than thou with an attitude and all depressed.

It's more about music, but does this sound about right?
