Emergency Trailering: What to do???

The best deal going is AMA. If you join for about $40 per year and renew automatically with a credit card you get towing included for every vehicle you own. I think it even includes vehicles you're a passenger in. And it's not just once a year like HOG basic membership. Besides that you're supporting the only organization that's looking out for your rights and you get a magazine too. How can you pass that up? The towing alone is worth more than that.
 
I would suggest to purchase AAA (in the States) or CAA (in Canada). Pay the extra for the "plus" to add coverage for motorcycle towing with a flat deck (instead of a truck with a hook).

I don't how the AAA works, but the CAA offers discounts at numerous places (especially hotels) which offer substantial savings that would more than pay for the cost of the coverage. Well worth the investment!

And blankets to cushion items stowed. Kmart or Wallyworld has inexpensive rope or tie down straps. For short trips it shouldn't hurt anything to lay it down on a few blankets on a flat bed trailer, especially if only the guards contact the floor. Not to mention the covered trailers. Most places have truck/trailer rentals nearby.

(You did say 'in an emergency'. I took that as being after it's too late to apply towing to insurance...)
 
I had to rent a U-haul ( never again btw) when the bike broke down in Redding CA. and drove it to Bellingham Wa. then trailered the rest of the way home to Vancouver.
My insurance company had a $100 tow assist/one time per year in the event of an oops or a break down.

Glad to hear you survived a flat tire.. With my Progressive Insurance towing is included. I also have the AAA RV but never gave it a thought regarding bike towing...so thanks for the heads up. Traveling Sundays you are pretty much on your own as far as a repair. I carry tools..tire plug repair kit with a C02 air chuck....and a can of cycle fix a flat. Need to find info on the belt repair kit.
 
Again, all good advice. I have a friend who has AMA and though he's never had to use it, feels good about their plan. A tire plug would have worked except that I'm driving spoked wheels, and plugging was out of the question. Kind'a hits home about driving tubeless tires.
