While I know that children are often the product of abuse, I cannot fathom the psychological fortitude that Elisabeth Fritzl must have developed in order to cope with the knowledge that her children were fathered by her own father.
While on one hand she loves them as any mother loves their children, there must exist a deep-seated resentment knowing they were forced upon her and not by someone she loved.
That must be torture.... I know she's had many years to come to terms with it, but good lord, how does she stay sane?
I have so much admiration for her, yet am stumped at the reports which say she appears to be unexpectedly normal.
