Hey everyone. Doing a project on the element Mercury. I am trying to figure out how many electrons are in each energy level of Mercury. My teacher only taught us up to the 3rd shell. She taught us
Energy shell 1 can hold up to 2 electrons
Energy shell 2 can hold up to 8 electrons
and
Energy shell 3 can hold up to 8 electrons
So that takes up 18 of the 80 electrons in Mercury. My teacher told me that i would need to check online for how many energy levels it has and how many electrons are in each energy level. Thanks everyone.
