El Orfanato aka "The Orphanage" [Critically Acclaimed Spanish Horror]

I watched this tonight, and thought it was incredible. Best horror movie I've seen in a Iong time. I loved the way it was paced, the way it allowed you to seep in the atmosphere, grow to care for the characters before the story was brought to a boil.

The rhythm of the scares was very different to the formula Hollywood usually employs. Instead of the moment of tension followed by a cathartic scream, the clever way The Orphanage staggered the frights into haunting crescendos that went on for uncomfortable lengths of time was extremely effective.

Any other fans of this movie?

Yes, and for that reason I just can't bring myself to watch it again, even though its probably one of the best films I've seen.

I didn't think of it so much as an out and out horror, but it is very creepy.

Yes, one of the best horror/supernatural films to come out in a long time. Absolutely wonderful film. Julia's Eyes looks good but don't think it will be up there with this film, looked a bit cheesy in parts.

Nothing special Lexie? what on earth counts as a special horror to you then?
