I've been completely mystified by 80s teen movies recently. I've looked at Wiki, but I cannot really pick any out.. any suggestions?

I've recently seen Weird Science and WarGames, which were both incredible. Going to buy Revenge of the NerRAB, Sixteen Candles and Ferris Bueller soon..

Love The Breakfast Club too..

Any more for any more?

People are just starting to list random 80s movies. The 80s teen movie should be one that is about teens and made in the 80s eg Pretty In Pink counts but Top Gun doesn't; Wierd Science does but Twins doesn't and so on.

My top 80s teen films would be:

Better Off Dead, Ferris Bueller, Pretty In Pink, Some Kind Of Wonderful, Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, Weird Science, St Elmos Fire, Soul Man, Can't Buy Me Love, Footloose, Risky Business, Say Anything, The Sure Thing, Fast Times..., About Last Night, Youngblood, Red Dawn, Class... more to come..

Yup, yup.. this is what I'm after. I find far much more appeal in The Breakfast Club than Top Gun. Haha.

Thanks for your list. :)

That is a good list:):) 'Can't Buy Me Love', Superb movie

Ok this was not a well known teen movie, but for the era, I'd also say 'Summer School' . What ya think?

Ahhh, The Breakfast Club! Loved it (and still do)! "I'm crackin' skulls!" :D

Some of my favourites from the top of my head are: -

Twins
Robocop
Adventures in Babysitting (AKA A Night On The Town)
Big
Big Foot and the Hendersons (hilarious!)

Yep these 3 are recommended. As well as the already 'John Hughes' films mentioned above.
Don't forget to add 'Dirty Dancing', and most films starring Corey Haim and Corey Feldman.:D I love 'License To Drive' and 'Stand By Me'.
'Pretty Woman' and a real couple of personal fave's are 'Mystic Pizza' and 'Adventures In Babysitting.' Oh and 'The Catholic Boys'.

Some Kind of Wonderful (another classic from John Hughes)
Gregory's Girl
Teen Wolf/Teen Wolf Too
Footloose
The Monster Squad
The Sure Thing
Explorers

Love these 80's films too, but they are not teen comedies:

Mannequin
9 to 5
The Princess Bride
The Burbs

Just added them in because I like them as 80's movies and they are a lot of fun!

Most of the good ones are mentioned, but heres a few more,

Heathers
Gremlins
Say Anything ( I love John Cusack)
Dead Poets Society
Flight Of The Navigator.

I love TBC, infact it might be my favourite film of all time. I really liked the following too:
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
St. Elmo's Fire (about college graduates rather than high school students, but it still has the same sort of appeal)
Sixteen Candles
Heathers
Say Anything
Stand By Me - not really a typical teen movie like the rest, but definitely worth watching. Very enjoyable and very sad. :(
