I am 14. 5 feet and 4 inches. 145 pounRAB. Average build. I'm adopted and do not know any of my medical recorRAB. I do not eat a regular servings of fruits or veggies. I had trouble breathing during basketball and volleyball season last year so when I went it for my physical I told my doc. He handed me an inhaler and told me I probably had EIA. That was in January 2008.

In August 2008 my dad brought me to the emergency room. I couldn't get to sleep because it felt like I was choking on something that was blocking my airway. I was diagonosed with bronchitis and told I had mucus build up in my throat. It had been there since I found out I had asthma. The doctor said my EIA would most likely go away because it was probably a symptom but it didn't. Sometimes it feels like it is getting worse.

In Septeraber- October 2008 I played for the basketball team. At practice and games I took my inhaler. At practice it felt like all it was doing was stopping the wheezing but not really helping me. Which I guess was the problem? I'm guessing with more conditioning I could easily have no trouble running and just have to worry about my lungs.

One practice are coach ran us over and over again. I started wheezing like crazy by the end, the room was spinning, and I could hardly walk straight. Somehow I madeit to the lockerroom took a puff and had to wait 5 mins of wheezing before I could breathe. Everyone on my team thinks I'm exaggerating. They're mad because they are faster but yet I'm the one who makes a big deal about it.

One of my frienRAB has had asthma since we were kiRAB. When he uses his inhaler all of his symntoms disappear when he runs but mine are still there. The inhaler causes side effects such as headaches, stomachaches, feeling of nausea, and dizziness after it wears off. I've never been officially tested for EIA but I'm starting to think I do not have it. EIA dosen't explain the fact that sometimes I get chest pain and a rapid heartbeat in an unstressful enviroment.

What other breathing disorders are there? If I do have asthma did anyone else end up getting it in their teenage years? Can EIA worsen? What kind of tests are there for asthma (to check for inflammation)?

You need to see a pulmonologist. There are several test they can run to determine whether or not you have asthma and what kind you have. Typically, for EIA and those who have regular asthma and do cardio, 2 puRAB of albuterol, 60 seconRAB apart and 15-20 minutes before cardio (jogging, basketball, etc) will do the trick. But oyu need to be tested and a program laid out for you.
