EGR valve in toyota corolla: how much will replacing it cost?

I have a 2000 Toyota Corolla. My check engine light came on and I took it to a shop, where they told me that three codes came up after running a diagnostic test. I was told my EGR valve (if I'm saying it correctly) needs to be replaced.

How much will it cost to purchase and replace it? Is it something I can purchase online and take to a trusted shop to fix?

By the way, my engine light went off on its own about two weeks after I took it to the shop.

i would do a emission test on the car to find out what is causing the check engine light to come on and off .could be just a faulty sensor.
