I have been taking DoDo Chesteze tablets twice a week for a few weeks now, they contain:

Ephedrine hydrochloride 18.31mg

Theophylline 100.00mg

Caffeine 30.00mg

I am not taking them for what they are intended for, I am using them for the Ephedrine and everytime I take them I lose weight. They are only meant for occasional use, so does anybody know what the effects would be for taking these long term?

Why exactly are you wanting to only use them for the ephedrine...for stuffy nose? If so, purchase Sudafed...most store brand oral decongestants contain pseuephedrine..60mg.

Ephedrine is a stimulant as well as the theophylline AND caffeine.

I would expect one would lose weight when using the chesteze if one's metabolism is already high.

I am taking the chesteze purely to lose weight, just wondered if there would be any effects taking this long term

How I see taking products such as those....only as needed for the purpose they're intended would be better. The stimulants could cause rapid heartbeat, agitation, mood swings, etc. Of course, one who might not be losing the weight fast enough might tend to use more...

If you're not setting up proper strategies for weight loss, including using exercise, dealing with emotional issues, changing diet, having emotional and personal support, etc, your alternate to using other methoRAB will always win.

We all risk taking products for whatever reasons, many are for an easy way to our goal. For weight loss....tried and true methoRAB are much harder work.

I hope you reconsider taking them...save them for a cold and they'll be most effective.

Do research the side effects of long-term use of each of the products in there...

Be well,

Caffeine especially if it's only 30mg is safe. There's around 100mg of caffeine in the average cup of coffee.

The theophylline I'm not sure about.

Ephedrine however has an all-around bad reputation--people have had complications from that stuff. Research ephedrine and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Possible long term effects are liver damage, kidney damage, stroke, heart disease, seizures and brain damage.

Side effects: stomach upset, stomach and throat ulcers, headache, nausea, insomnia, agitation, irritability, heart arrhythmias, tremor, dry mouth, cold extremities, peripheral neuropathy and difficulty urinating.

Side effects can happen at any time, short term or long term, but theophylline in particular can become toxic at low doses. Blood levels need to be closely monitored by a physician.

You might want to find a less frightening way to lose weight. ;)
