I was reading an article about how the education system has changed and now girls generally get higher grades than boys in public (state run) schools, which was not true 7 years ago. I went to an all boys private school with virtually all male teachers and on average, our grades were in the top five in NSW (Australia).

I think that you are right Captain Caveman. An exam based system is of more benefit to boys than girls. Also beause I had 95% male teachers in an all boys school, they tought in a male friendly fashion, e.g instead of stories about relationships and love, stories about travel and pirates.
