I am skilled with computers and a certified hardware tech. I recently replaced a failing hard drive for my grandmother. After the replacement she told me with a completely straight face that Google was spying on her and that they where reading here emails and messages as she wrote them. She went on to say that she was having a conversation with someone over an IM client and the ads kept changing. She then claims to have typed obscenities and other foul language all directed to the unseen Google spy. I tried explaining in any way i could think of that Google did not have a person assigned to spy on her but she refused to believe it. This whole conversation happened with fox news playing in the background.
Is there any way to confront this kind of b blatant and forceful technological idiocy that with end in any kind of success?
the thing is she isn't completely illiterate when it comes to technology she can do more with a computer than your average college student and she runs ubuntu and xp. she may not be 1337 but i can't help but feel she is not a lost cause.
