education about childcare? student work placement in nuseries?

I am doing childcare and education in September and I want to know are there any subjects that would relate to childcare and would be better if I did them as well?

Also if I can know some of the nurseries or primary schools in Swindon Wiltshire that take work replacement for childcare student in order for work experiences?
