Edit ISO image to change desktop environment (linux)?

Basically I have Backtrack 4 which is a Debian-based linux OS. However, it is a live CD that comes with the KDE desktop environment. I want to edit the ISO image to remove KDE and install the GDE or Ubuntu Desktop environment. I dont want to install the environment inside the OS while it is installed tho because it takes up way too much space. BTW it will be running on a flash drive, not a hard disk. How would I do this?
