Economics HELP??!?!??!?

What does it mean for one country's currency to either depreciate or appreciate relative to another's? Specifically, I have to explain and answer very briefly the following statements/questions

"the U.S. dollar depreciated relative to the Yuan."
"the U.S. dollar appreciated relative to the Yuan."
"can an appreciation o the Yuan relative to the U.S. dollar create jobs in the U.S.?"
"how does a depreciation of the yuan relative to the dollar affect u.s. net exports?"

can someone help? I'm confused on exactly what depreciation/appreciation means in "relative to" another currency and what exactly it does.
Thank you. So I'm assuming the same would hold true for that last question? If the depreciation of the yuan occurs relative to u.s. dollars, then wherever the country is that uses yuan, would buy less U.S. exports right?
