According to "It's not easy being green" on the BBC, ripping up and re-installing a concrete patio is one of the worst things you could do.

As I am hoping to buy a flat that has a crumbling concrete patio, what are my options?

p.s. please don't bother answering if you have no idea!

Seems like nonsense, if your gonna put concrete right back down, its not gonna hurt anything but the earth were you dump the old one.

If its just a patio, put a fresh layer of concrete on top of it 2-3 inches thik is what i would do.

the reason the BBC says it's bad is because the process to make concrete emits CO2, that's all.

So instead of tearing it out, just put some more on top. If you use softwood, you will have to replace it every 3 years, can you personally regrow the wood required to replace, ace the patio every 3 years? NAW, that is a BS solution. Use treated softwood or a recycled plastic material if you want a wood look patio..
