ebay wheels

Have any of you guys purchased the chrome 9-spoke touring wheels on ebay that the chrome platers list? They are usually the exchange items where they grind, smooth, polish and chrome the factory wheels and you send your original wheels back. I was wondering what the quality is like and if there is any problem with balancing the wheels. Anyone had any experience with these?

Thanks Guys!

Ya, I would be curious as well. I'm sure these rims flex under stress. I can't help but wonder about the chrome over time. It looks like even a 1 year warranty will cost you extra. Not to mention the hassle of removing the rims just to replace a small chip. You really gotta wonder.

You might want to contact a few of his buyers and see how they are holding up.
Good luck.

I've had chrome 9 spoke wagon wheels on my bike for over 3 years now without issue (not purchased from e-bay). The front looks a little worse for wear than the rear (and really not all that bad) but, I think that is expected (exposure). Purchased about 6mos. apart from diffrent indy wrenches (front first, thinking "you hardly even see the rear..." I was wrong, you do!) The chrome job looked better on the rear wheel from day one. A diffrent chromer, that did a better job!

i havent done my rims yet but im going to. i had my forks and clappers done off ebay by this guy [email protected]. im very happy with them. great price and really fast mailing. ive had them on for nearly a year and no issues at all. i would have had the rims done, but i had a few things go on with the motor i had to replace. i only get so much chrome allowance a month

I have used Chrome Pros and they are good. Just do some research and ask what there plating process is. I did get a pair fork legs from another place that had no copper base coat and they where crap.

I used a guy on ebay from So Cal. I forgot the name at the moment, I have the recpt in my tool box at the shop. He gave a 3 year warranty and also explained he uses a bit different process, besides a copper, nickle, and chrome plating he does a hard nickle plate too. The wheels are flawless and 3 years later they look as good as the day I put them on.
Oh and when I went to have the tires mounted and balanced, the guy said these were the most perfectly set of balanced wheels he has ever seen, both wheels took a 1/4 oz weight.
