There's an item on eBay that I've been looking for, for ages and at this point, I'm willing to go for the Buy It Now option, just to minimize any chances of outbidders. But this item doesn't have that option.

Is it bad form (or absolutely not allowed) to contact the seller and ask to buy it off them right away?

* I'm really new to eBay so any help is appreciated.

dont bid on it until right before the bidding is supposed to end...i mean like minutes before. that way if others have bidded on it and really want it you won't cause them to keep increasing their bid- just steal it away from them unexpectedly at the end.

It's against Ebay rules to contact seller and buy outside of Ebay. I would put the item in your watch list, and bid on it the last 5 minutes before it ends. Say that the item is up to $25, I personally would think how much it's worth and bid $35 or more so I know I won't be outbid.
