Hi I sold something on ebay and the buyer filed a dispute. Now he is sending the item back and I am going to give him a full refund but paypal is holding the money that the buyer orriginally paid me for the item. So i guess my question is, will paypal send the money that is being held back to the buyer? or will paypal give me the money back and i send the money to the buyer? This is really confusing me and any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

PayPal will send the money that is being held. Do not send the buyer any money. When you've received the item back, log into your account and create a "refund". If your account still shows you don't have enough money to refund due to the hold, then call PayPal. Their phone number is in the "contact us" link on your account.

Has the buyer lodged a PayPal dispute?
Yes, PayPal will hold the money until you acknowledge return receipt of the item (it's return) and then PayPal will refund the buyer. I believe that you will be "out of pocket" for the shipping cost too, just as the buyer is "out of pocket" for the shipping cost of returning the item.
Make sure you reply to any PayPal emails or buyer emails so that your side of the story is heard.
The dispute is then "closed".
