eating some Conch (konk)?

I'm taking a trip to Curacao soon and have always been interested in eating some Conch and have a few questions

1. How easy is it to find while just snorkeling?
2. how would you clean it(pull it out or break it open)?
3. can I just eat it raw, right there on shore?
4. do I need a permit?
